Parting of the Red Sea, Fact or Fiction

In my studies, the parting of the Red Sea never happened. The Israelites took a route through the Sea of Reeds. The Egyptians got bogged down, the tide came in and some drowned. But of course, most of the stories in the Old Testament came from Mesopotamian folk tales.
