Handmade Raku Wall Sculpture
This piece was to be an interactive sculpture. I had made holes in the plates and they were to hang on nails. The viewer could rearrange the plates at their whim.
I scrounged a piece of plywood that was not large enough to carry out the initial interactive design. I used a bonding material to hold the plates to the plywood.
Using a 4 inch paint brush I brushed a streak of white craquelure glaze on the plates. While cleaning the burnt sawdust off the plates I noticed a silver coating on them. I had rubbed some of the silver off one of the plates, so I rinsed the rest of the plates in water to retain the silver coating.
