A Hand Built Porcelain Tea Pot
This was a functional, non-funtional tea pot that later fell apart because of where and how it was stored. Pit firing does not lend itself very well to functional ware, especially with health restrictions the way they are today. Although, pit firing is still used today to produce functional pottery.
I had made a mold for the four sides and top of the pot. I was experimenting with porcelain and alternative firing methods. I had pit fired a smaller porcelain piece a few days earlier and I thought I would raise the stakes and build a larger piece.
I love the color on the handle and the smoke worked its magic on the rest of the pot. It doesn't look like procelain.
